Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · Crawford Ranked 2nd after Clovis Invite in San Diego Section D4

It was a matter of time for the boys team to get ranked in the division.  The time was just right.  Last week 19 boys got to experience a high caliber meet at Woodward Park, in Fresno.  The course is the same course used for the California State Meet.  The rest of the team ran a JV race on the league course.

The Rankings after the week has Sage Creek as #1, Crawford as #2, and Coronado as #3 in Division 4.

Below is a recap of the events.

League JV Meet

9-10 JV Boys
Ayman Toto posted a Personal Record (PR) of 18:34.  He was followed by PRs from Ndizeye Hitimana, Christopher Ngo, Helkana Mousnagar, David Kaw, Jonathan Luvianos, Kevin Cortez, and Marco Villalba.

11-12 JV Boys
Isaq Moalim and captain Erik Cisneros raced in order to accomodate SATs on Saturday.  Isaq ran away with the fastest time of the day with 17:43.  Erik had a PR from last year with a 18:40.

JV Girls
Islam Ahmed had a lifetime PR by clocking 25:26.  Ruby Dircio is on a comeback as she ran four minutes faster than at the previous meet.

Clovis Invitational

Frosh/Soph Boys
Due to not being accepted in the Varsity race, most of our varsity athletes raced in the Frosh/Soph race.  Mandela Matuta had a season best by placing 2nd in the race.  The performance came after a late surge during the last 800 meters where he passed 6 guys to obtain the runner up.  There were 31 teams in the race.

JV Boys
Nader Ali continued his winning streak at invitationals.  This time it came with a wrong turn.  Right in the middle of the race, Nader went the wrong way after having a 50 meter lead on the next runner.  Brave as he is, he came back to the course and won the race by a small margin of .1 seconds.  The rest of the team complimented his efforts by placing 5th out of 26 teams.

Stay tuned to Crawford’s first Varsity League Meet on Thursday at 3 pm in Morley Field.  They will be dueling Hoover, Mira Mesa, Saints/OLP in a cluster meet.
